Brett is Lead Partner at McR Defence. Drawing upon over 22 years experience within government and private enterprise, Brett has forged a career as a commercial leader in the Defence and National Security sector. Brett’s passion for the sector stems from his 14 years of military service. Brett has been a key decision maker for leading ASX listed organisations including, Defence service providers, infrastructure and construction companies and the Australian Defence Force.
Challenging traditional ways of working and thinking in an increasingly agile environment, Brett offers a contemporary, pragmatic and commercial approach to his engagements.
Brett develops innovative, effective solutions and deliverables in support of the client’s broader strategic objectives. Brett brings a unique ability to balance the operation imperatives of Defence against the commercial imperatives of the industry.
Evan is a Partner at McR Defence. A specialist construction lawyer, Evan has over 18 years experience gained through a combination of roles in-house and in private practice with a focus on the Defence and National Security industry.
Evan has an in-depth knowledge of the issues faced by participants in the construction, infrastructure and resources sectors. He understands the operational and commercial drivers that underpin complex projects.
By combining his legal technical expertise and project management experience, Evan is well placed to partner with clients to meet their legal and commercial needs across the entire project lifecycle from transactions through to project delivery and dispute resolution.
Nicholas is Associate Director of McR Defence. He has a comprehensive background in intelligence and professional services, both within the public and private sector. Nicholas spent the formative years of his career as a specialist intelligence officer in the Australian Army.
Following his military career, Nicholas has worked in the professional services industry as a management consultant and abroad as an adviser with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade at the Australian embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia.
With exceptional problem solving and critical reasoning abilities, Nicholas develops robust strategies and project management plans to help clients achieve optimal commercial success.
Kate is a senior Government, Procurement and Projects lawyer with an outstanding track record of achievement advising Australian Government agencies and the private sector throughout her 20-year career.
She began private practice in commercial law and dispute resolution and moved to Government in 2008, specialising in procurement and contracting, governance and accountability, compliance and operational risk management. Kate takes a pragmatic approach to navigating highly complex, rapidly changing regulatory environments to achieve the best possible outcomes for her clients.
Kate is a Defence specialist having previously held a number of senior executive positions in Defence Legal including Deputy General Counsel, a member of the Defence Legal Executive and various Project Boards, and as Special Counsel. Over 13 years, Kate was Special Counsel to four critical Defence Groups, advising senior leaders on a range of strategic, legal, commercial and probity matters.
